Members of US congress laud reforms carried out in Morocco

MAP reports on a visit by US Members of Congress to Morocco, including Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, who met with Morocco’s Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar in Rabat:

MAP logoMembers of the US congress lauded, Tuesday in Rabat, reforms carried out by Morocco while underlining steps taken by the Kingdom to uphold the rule of law and democracy.

During a meeting with foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, the members of the delegation, led by Timothy Michael Kaine, Senator of the state of Virginia and Chairman of Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Near Eastern and South and Central Asian Affairs, seized this occasion to assure Morocco of the US congress support for reforms under way in the Kingdom.

The Members of the delegation have also expressed interest in strengthening relations with Morocco.

For his part, Mezouar welcomed the excellent strategic partnership which marks the relations of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and the United States, which were given impetus thanks to the summit meeting between HM King Mohammed VI and President Barack Obama, during the visit of the Sovereign to the United States in November 2013.
