Smithsonian Institution Highlights Morocco’s Cultural Heritage [Maghreb Arab Press]

Morocco has signed a partnership agreement with the National Foundation for Museums, receives praise from Smithsonian official:

smithsonian institution logoMolly Fannon, Director of the Office of International Relations at the Smithsonian Institution, a group of museums and research centers administered by the United States government, highlighted the cultural heritage and diversity of Morocco, a country where the different civilizations influenced each other throughout the centuries.

During a ceremony chaired by King Mohammed VI, Fannon signed, on Tuesday in Rabat, a partnership agreement with the National Foundation for Museums on the occasion of the inauguration by the sovereign of the Mohammed VI Museum for Modern and Contemporary Art.

Morocco is a country with such a heritage and a long history where the different cultures came together and influenced each other throughout the centuries, Fannon told MAP.

Opportunities of cultural cooperation between Morocco and the USA are immense, she said, adding that the Smithsonian Institution takes genuine interest in Morocco’s fascinating cultural potential and its multi-faceted heritage…[Original Story, subscription required]
