Tarfaya wind farm into service [Jeune Afrique]

Morocco’s Tarfaya wind farm, currently the largest of its kind on the continent, is now operational:

Jeune AfriqueCommercial use of the wind farm in Tarfaya, Morocco has started. With a total capacity of 300 megawatts, the wind farm necessitated more than 450 million euros of investments.

The endeavor took two years of work, involving more than 700 employees, but it has led to great results: the commercial exploitation of the Tarfaya wind farm in Morocco’s southern Atlantic coast has begun.

With 131 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.3 megawatts, spread over a 8,900 hectare area and representing a total capacity of 301 megawatts, the Tarfaya wind farm is currently the largest wind farm on the continent – only the Zafrana complex in Egypt, which contains more than 6 distinct wind projects, has surpasses Tarfaya in power with its estimated 600 MW…[Full Story, Article in French]
