Dutch FM highlights exemplary cooperation between the Netherlands and Morocco to combat radicalization | Maghreb Arab Press

More praise for Morocco’s strategy and cooperation in the fight against violent extremism:

MAP logoDutch foreign minister Bert Koenders highlighted, on Monday in the Hague, the exemplary cooperation between the Netherlands and Morocco in the fight against terrorism and youth radicalization.

“If we want to learn from each other, we should be open. Cooperation between the Netherlands and Morocco is a good example of this state of mind,” Koenders said at the opening of the 2nd meeting of the “Foreign Terrorist Fighters” (FTF) under the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF).

On the occasion of the month of Ramadan, the Netherlands will welcome 45 Moroccan imams (religious leaders) who will visit Mosques across the country to talk to young people and visitors, and explain to Dutch imams the concept of radicalization and their responsibility as religious leaders, said  Koenders.

Underlining the importance of political will, know-how and good capacities to fight this phenomenon, he noted that the Netherlands and Morocco, as future co-chairmen of the GCTF, will work with all countries to identify shortcomings in terms of capacities and means to address them.

For the Netherlands and Morocco, this election as presidents of the Forum is a huge honor and a big responsibility to encourage and continue the work that has been done by GCTF members, he added…[original story, subscription required]
