International Organization for Migration (IOM) commends Morocco’s new immigration policy, its Director General says | Maghreb Arab Press

Morocco’s approach to migration is commended by the International Organization for Migration:

MAP logoDirector General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) William Lacy Swing lauded on Monday the Moroccan new immigration policy.

“I congratulate the Moroccan government for the new immigration plan initiated under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI,” said William Lacy Swing at a press briefing after a meeting with minister delegate for foreign affairs Mbarka Bouaida.

The Director General of the International Organization for Migration added that “elaborating three laws on immigration, asylum and human trafficking shows the pertinence of the Moroccan immigration policy.”

Lacy Swing also hailed the south-south policy between Morocco and countries generating immigrants, and the setting up of the inter-ministerial committee in charge of it.

Bouaida recalled that Morocco has been conducting, for the past two years, a new immigration policy which is recognized internationally and regionally as a model in the region, adding that Morocco has been constructively cooperating with the IOM for years…[original story, subscription required]
