The Clinton Global Initiative Meeting has kicked off in Morocco “to address pressing global challenges”:
The Clinton Global Initiative Middle East & Africa Meeting kicked off Wednesday in Marrakech, with the participation of regional and global leaders from business, government and civil society.
The three-day high-level meeting started by a plenary session chaired by former US President and CGI Chairman, Bill Clinton, on the theme “Connecting People for Growth”.
The meeting will spotlight regional successes and address a range of relevant issues including education; public health systems; youth employment; infrastructure; and water, food, and energy resources.
As with all CGI meetings, participants at CGI Middle East & Africa will work together to make Commitments to Action: new, specific, and measurable plans to address pressing global challenges.
The meeting is an opportunity for leaders to come together across sectors to examine and amplify the progress underway in two of the most dynamic regions of the world.
Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), an initiative of the Clinton Foundation, convenes global leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
CGI Annual Meetings have brought together more than 180 heads of state, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and members of the media.
To date, members of the CGI community have made more than 3,100 commitments, which are already improving the lives of more than 430 million people in over 180 countries…[Original Story, Subscription Required]
