Hudson musician among group who helped celebrate embassy opening in Morocco │ Hudson Hub-Times

flagsThe US Embassy in Rabat hosted an early 4th of July celebration last month in honor of their beautiful new building. To help with the festivities, the embassy invited the University of Akron Faculty Jazz Ensemble to travel 4,000 miles away from their home to perform. As Hudson Hub-Times reports:

Rock Wehrmann, a 1973 graduate of Hudson High School, is a piano player with the University of Akron Faculty Jazz Ensemble, which includes Mark Gonder on drums, Tim Powell on bass and John Schantz on trumpet. The group was invited to Rabat, Morocco, to celebrate both the newly built U.S. Embassy and an early Fourth of July.

Wehrmann’s wife, Susan, escorted the group.

“It was essentially an open house,” said Wehrmann, who is also a jazz piano professor at the University of Akron. [full story]
