The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini’s comments during her first official trip to Morocco:
Morocco is a privileged partner of the European Union (EU) in the field of security, the counterterrorism fight and the management of immigration, said, on Tuesday in Rabat, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
In a statement to the press following her meeting with interior minister Mohamed Hassad, Mogherini, who is paying her first official visit to Morocco since she took office in November 2014, lauded the action of the Moroccan government mainly regarding cooperation with the EU.
During her visit to the Kingdom, Mogherini will highlight the special ties between Morocco and the EU and discuss means and ways to promote bilateral cooperation mainly in the fields of economy, immigration and security.
Mogherini will meet with several Moroccan officials on the democratic reforms carried out in Morocco and the EU’s political and financial support for the Moroccan reform process, sources from the European commission said.
The talks will touch also on the review under way of the European Neighborhood Policy and the status of the Kingdom regarding this policy, in addition to current issues of shared interest as the Libyan crisis and the situation in the Sahel and the Middle East…[original story, subscription required]
