Morocco is expanding investment into domestic renewable energy production:
Moroccan electricity and water utility company ONEE will have MAD 7.7 billion (USD 786 million/ EUR 711 million) to spend on investments in the country electricity sector in 2016, an increase of MAD 1.4 billion compared to the budget in 2015.
According to documents related to Morocco’s bill on state budget for 2016, investment will be channeled primarily into the development of power generation projects. Morocco expects to add 3,765 MW of generation capacity to its grid between 2015 and 2018 with a considerable portion of this capacity coming from renewable energy.
