COP21: UNSG Hails Morocco’s Constructive Leadership Role in Paris Agreement Negotiations | MAP

Morocco’s leadership role in global climate negotiations praised by UN:

MAP logoUN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday hailed the “constructive leadership role” that Morocco played in the negotiations that resulted in the Paris agreement on climate change, the United Nations said.

During a meeting with Moroccan Minister Delegate in Charge of Environment Hakima El Haite on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Ban Ki-moon “thanked Morocco for its constructive leadership role in the negotiations that led to the Paris agreement on climate change last December”, UN Spokesperson Stéphan Dujarric underlined in a statement.

The UN chief also hailed Morocco’s rule as the host of the 22nd Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled to take place this year in Marrakech, and underlined “the kingdom’s role in the maintenance of the positive momentum generated in Paris”, the same source added…[ORIGINAL STORY, SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED]
