‘Made in Morocco’ site launched | Magharebia

A unique e-commerce site in Morocco will serve as trading platform for locally-made products:

magharebiaMorocco just launched the largest e-commerce site in Africa to showcase goods made in the kingdom.

Made-in-Morocco.ma was unveiled January 22nd at the Chamber of Commerce in Services in Casablanca during a press conference by the National Federation of E-Commerce in Morocco (FNEM).

“Made in Morocco, the electronic trading platform being launched today is dedicated to more than 420,000 products, including food produced in Morocco such as saffron, olive oil, and Argan oil,” said El Amine Serhani Al Idrissi, website director and FNEM president.

The site is the first of its kind in Africa and is totally dedicated to products manufactured in Morocco. According to FNEM, the site combines the efforts of 217 manufacturers.

“It also includes other products associated with traditional Moroccan industries such as the Moroccan jilbab for men and women, kaftans, jabador, and selham – all fashions that characterise Morocco,” the website director told Magharebia.

He added, “We took into account diversity in the Made in Morocco site, meaning ‘Made in Morocco’ is for products that are purely Moroccan local products from all regions including some traditional handicrafts associated with the north and Fez. The site includes products from the Sahara and others from the east.”

For her part, Leila Alami, a representative of one of the partner banks of “Made in Morocco”, said it was “a big and ambitious project aimed at promoting Morocco and its products abroad and introducing the full variety of its traditional national products, which makes it attractive to visitors”…[Full Story]
